During Our Fall Match Fundraiser As We Raise $175,000!

Empowering Neurodivergent Stewards, Protecting Nature, & Inspiring Community. ​

Help us launch a groundbreaking initiative to hire young adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities & traumatic brain injuries for our Neurodiversity Apprenticeship Program, where they will serve as land stewards of the Blue Lotus Center. 

Introducing:
Neurodiverse Apprentices

This Apprenticeship Program gives Neurodivergent young people meaningful employment all while gaining skills that will last a lifetime that they can utilize in other positions in similar fields.
Here are some of the things they will be doing and learning.

Helping Maintain Trails

Apprentices will learn how to manage vegetation and remove obstructions.

Protecting Wildlife

Apprentices will learn about reptiles, birds, and other critters on the property that need consideration.

Growing Native Plants

Apprentices will be learning about the Native Plants of our area and how they help our ecosystem.

Cultivating Gardens

Apprentices will learn how to do day-to-day care for the existing gardens on site.

Engaging with Our Guests 

Apprentices will be working with experienced guides to make sure our guests feel welcome.

Apprentices will learn the basics of how to plant and care for young trees.

Your donation will support 6 apprentices, create a 64-acre land managment plan, procure tools & support equipment for apprentices, purchase native plant seedlings & tree saplings, provide professional development for apprentices & staff, and much more! 

Horizontal Growth for Apprentices 

Apprentices will learn new skills from a starting set of fifteen.

Vertical Growth for Apprentices

Apprentices will get increased independence in each skill set with systematic benchmarks.

A skill being learned requires direct supervision from a job coach to ensure safety and proper performance

A skill being developed can be done independently with regular check-ins and a final walk-through with a coach

A mastered skill can be trusted to be done well independently without the intervention of a coach

A mentored skill is one in which the apprentice can become a coach for someone who is learning or developing the skill
