Seasonal (June – August) Group Assistant
Weekends/Evenings/Some Weekdays

Approximately 10-15 hours week

 

Position Description:

The Seasonal Group Coordinator works directly with individuals who visit Blue Lotus Farm & Retreat Center. They act as the primary host for each nonprofit organization that visits and each individual who joins us for our own programming. The main responsibility is to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at Blue Lotus. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Groups: Handle nonprofit organization usage of Retreat Center. Act as primary contact during their visit. This includes being responsible for daily set up and take down of activities, welcoming everyone and going over safety information, ascertaining the group needs, taking photographs, assisting people with outdoor activities, and cleaning up. 

  • Site: Assist in the management of all aspects of the site including but not limited to: filling bird feeders as needed, coordinating garbage and recycling pickups, testing pool water, keeping pool water and deck clean, assist with keeping buildings clean (pavilion, barn, outer bath house, changing room) and alerting supervisor if supplies are low or need attention. 

  • Volunteers: Lead volunteers in accomplishing tasks related to hosting a group or managing the site.

  • Communication: Communicate with supervisor during each scheduled workday to recap the day’s events and discuss upcoming Retreat Center needs. Record number of people who attended.

  • Additional: If there is additional time in schedule, assist with other needs at Blue Lotus such as weeding or other light grounds maintenance or general mailings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate

  • Similar work experience preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population

  • Experience working with volunteers, and the ability to engage volunteers

  • Tact, diplomacy, initiative, and good judgment

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity and enjoyment of outdoor activities including canoeing, hiking and fishing

  • Knowledge of gardening

  • Certifications including CPR, First Aid, AED and Lifeguarding
